From the 18th till the 20th of September 2009 the Head of Honorary Council of the Foundation "Open Ukraine" Tereziya Yatsenyuk met with Ukrainian labour migrants in Lisbon, Portugal, visited the Ukrainian Saturday school "Dyvostvit” and took part in the celebration of 18 anniversary of Independence of Ukraine, organized by Ukrainian community in Portugal. Tereziya Yatsenyuk presented to the school library 420 Ukrainian textbooks. This gift was opportune, because the biggest problem is the lack of Ukrainian school textbooks.

A master class on the making of pysankas took place on St. Stephen square in Bologna (Italy). Ukrainian women taught all those interested in the open air. Students of the Fine Arts Academy of Bologna were involved to increase participation.

The Foundation also supported the 19th Festival of • Ukrainian Culture which was held in July 2008 in Sopot, Poland. On July 12th, Mandry’s folk-rock could be heard along with authentic singing by Kyiv band Bozhychi, Pokuttia from Kolomyia and also Honoured National academic cappella Dumka (Kyiv), and vocals by Pikardijska Tertsia, on stage at the Lisova Opera-House.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk's Open Ukraine Foundation, supported a trip to Serbia for Ukrainian authors.  In partnership with the art association, The Last Barricade, the authors presented "Contemporary Ukraine," a discussion of modern art in Ukraine from May 15-20th 2008. The modern Ukrainian writers and poets who travelled to Serbia included, Andriy KOKOTIUKHA (Kyiv), Svitlana POVALIAYEVA (Kyiv), Serhiy PANTIUK (Kyiv-Chernivtsi-Khmelnytskyi), Nazar FEDORAK (Lviv), Lala BAGIROVA (Kharkiv), Maryna DAVYDOVA (Kharkiv) and Oksana OMELCHENKO (Kyiv).

Ukrainian students from the Suchava District in Romania • who study Ukrainian got an opportunity to read Ukrainian literary works and textbooks and learn their native language.

An exhibition of embroideries complemented by a concert of Ukrainian artist and singer Anzhelika Rudnytska turned out to be a perfect way to present Ukraine in a language of original, special, cheerful and optimistic art. This event, called Ukrainian Universe, was held on February 23, 2008, within the framework of the Days of Ukrainian Culture in Budapest, in one of the biggest cultural centres in the Hungarian capital. In addition, the Foundation joined Ukrainian poets and singers in Hungary in their efforts to record the first CD of Ukrainian songs. The CD was presented at the Days of Ukrainian Culture.

For the first time in the 9-year history of the Special Ukrainian Peacekeeping Section in Kosovo, one could hear live Ukrainian song — the Ukrainian folk rock band Mandry gave a concert to the military men in Hnylyany town, Kosovo. The hour and a half long concert of Ukrainian songs excited the spirit of the fighters – Ukrainians, Poles, Russians, Hindus, Pakistanis, and official UN representatives.
