Volodymyr Ivasiuk Scholarship
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the birth of Volodymyr Ivasiuk, the Ukrainian poet and composer, the Open Ukraine Foundation established the V. Ivasiuk Scholarship. The Scholarship is intended for students of the composers department Mykola Lysenko National Music Academy, Lviv. In 2009 the Scholarship was awarded to Ivan Pahota, a fourth-year student.
In 2010 Ilona Verhivska (class of prof. V. Kaminsky), a third-year student of theoretical and composer s faculty (composer s branch), became the second scholar of Volodymyr Ivasyuk Scholarship.
Kazimir Malevich Award
In 2008, the Open Ukraine Foundation joined the initiative of the Polish Institute in Kiev to found the Kazimir Malevich Award on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the artist’s birth. This year’s winner, Ukrainian artist Alevtina Kakhidze, received financial support from the Open Ukraine Foundation to undertake residence in the Centre for Contemporary Art «Uyazdovsky Castle» (Poland).
