«MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ» International Poetry Festival Successfully Held In Chernivtsi With Support From Open Ukraine Foundation

On September 3-5 «MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ» international poetry festival was successfully held in Chernivtsi with support from Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s Open Ukraine Foundation. The event assembled artists from Ukraine, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, namely famous poets, DJs, VJs, photopainters and musicians.

The festival included poetry readings, youth poetry stage, books presentations, cigarettes and poetry as well as wine and poetry discussions, excursions, art exhibitions and music parties.

Among numerous guests of the event one could find word-painters Jury Andrukhovych, Natalka Bilotserkivets, Elke Erb, Gerhard Falkner, Milena Findeis, Hendrik Jackson, Ingeborg Kaiser, Oleg Lysheha, Brigitte Oleschinski, Igor Pomeranzev, Andreas Saurer, Julian Schutting.

The participants of the festival had also an opportunity to enjoy performances of DJs from Ukraine, Austria, Germany and Switzerland: Triad, Henree, Franksen, Soulsurfer, Webber,`Miss Sue, Diva, Lera and MC Kemo.

On September 3 Tereziya Yatsenyuk, head of the supervisory board of Open Ukraine Foundation, took part in the opening ceremony of the festival.

According to her this art event unites Ukraine and Europe, demonstrating the Chernivtsi’s contribution to the German literature and European culture in general.

Tereziya Yatsenyuk stressed that it has been a pleasure for the Open Ukraine Foundation to accept an invitation and become the sponsor of the festival.

“We believe such events can implement the main idea of the Open Ukraine Foundation — improvement of Ukraine’s international prestige, its popularization abroad and promotion of intercultural contacts”, Head of the Foundation’s Supervisory Board said.

After her presentation, Mrs. Yatsenyuk gave numerous interviews to local, national and foreign media.
