Ukrainian Artist Kosyanenko Impresses the Netherlands by her Art
07.06.2010
“The Nethterlands can surprise and fascinate by many things. It wasn’t my first trip to Hague and Amsterdam. Their life is different. Fairy tale houses. Goldish Rembrandt, favorite Van Gogh. The mills and a sea of flowers. Inexhaustible treasury of art works, numerous museums. Quiet life…,” Ukrainian artist Kateryna Kosyanenko says. Due to support of Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s Open Ukraine Foundation Kosyanenko presented her works to inhabitants of Hague (the Netherlands). On May 15-27 her newest this year works were exposed in Gallery Atelier Beeld.
“I exposed six new art works, four paintings of the Pory Roku (Seasons) series and the works entitled Volhvy (The Magi) and Lyst (The Letter) (all dated 2010). I hope that European connoisseurs of art are attracted by singularity of Ukrainian paintings and originality of art styles based on Ukrainian painting and icon painting”.
The exposition was organized in the frames of the art event entitled Ukrainian Woman in Culture and Art, initiated by the Netherlands Matrix Orange Charity Foundation. Ukraine was also represented in the event by writer Oksana Zabuzhko and artists Oksana Popinova and Oksana Stratiichuk.
Kateryna Kosyanenko has pointed out that there was a great interest towards Ukrainian artists. It is necessary, she says, to go on forming cultural links of Ukraine with the Netherlands and with the world in general.
“How can we surprise? So far it is only art being able to surprise in a positive way. It should better be of high quality and originality. They are not really interested in fakes like unidentified ‘modern art works’”.
